Mahan Navabi
Mahan Navabi is a licensed OAA architect whose work spans a wide spectrum of project types – from large-scale master plans and civic institutions to residential developments and public art installations. With experience across all phases of design and construction, he brings a thoughtful and technically rigorous approach to each project, grounded in the belief that architecture is a tool to give form to the formless and shape both our cities and our future.
He is currently leading the design development of the Yonge and Rosehill Condo Tower and overseeing contract administration for the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s Campus Services Building, a high-performance two-storey mass timber building. He is also playing a key role in two mixed-use residential developments in collaboration with Atria Development: PostLofts, a ten-storey mass timber addition to an existing two-storey post office, and Lot 16, a mixed-use project on Celina Street currently in schematic design.
Mahan is an active member of MTA’s AI Task Force, where he is developing user-friendly tools for daylighting analysis, facade optimization, and next-generation visualization and schematic design workflows, advancing more sustainable and responsive design practices across the firm.
With a foundation in both practice and research, Mahan has taught architectural theory, structures, and building systems, and conducted studies on the ecological and social impacts of large urban parks. His work reflects a deep commitment to sustainability, particularly through the integration of passive design strategies, embedded not as surface treatments but within the very bones of the building, from first principles to final detailing. -
