Outside Sales Representative

Location: Toronto

Full Time, Remote/Hybrid.

Compensation: Details At End Of Post

Description of the Company

This is a well-established stone fabrication and installation company with decades of experience delivering high-quality work across residential and commercial construction. Historically built on strong repeat residential relationships, the business is now intentionally expanding its commercial footprint across institutional, mixed-use, infrastructure, and large-scale developments. The operation includes an impressive fabrication facility, strong pricing discipline, and a reputation for reliability and quality.

Why this Role is Open

The business is ready to introduce outside sales with a clear focus on commercial growth, new relationships, and long-term project pipelines. This role exists to bring in a fresh perspective, open doors the owners cannot consistently pursue themselves, and build a stronger presence in commercial construction.

Responsibilities

This is an autonomous outside sales role focused on relationship-driven business development. You will represent the company in the field, build trust with decision-makers, and bring real opportunities back to the estimating and production teams. Results matter more than activity tracking or where you work from.

  • Develop new commercial relationships with general contractors, developers, designers, and construction managers

  • Re-establish an outside sales presence across commercial construction sectors such as healthcare, transit, hospitality, casinos, plazas, and institutional projects

  • Prospect, qualify, and nurture new clients from first meeting through drawings and eventual job award

  • Bring back drawings, specifications, and early project intelligence for pricing and pursuit

  • Maintain and grow relationships with kitchen companies and select residential partners where relevant

  • Represent the company professionally at site visits, offices, and industry touchpoints

  • Track contacts, meetings, and opportunities using simple CRM tools such as Excel or a lightweight system provided

  • Collaborate closely with ownership and internal teams to align pricing, feasibility, and delivery

Must-haves

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction sales or business development

  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, trades, and how projects come together

  • Background in a related construction trade such as stone, painting, drywall, electrical, or similar

  • Proven ability to build trust and long-term relationships, not just chase quick wins

  • Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight

Nice-to-haves

  • Existing relationships with general contractors, developers, or commercial builders

  • Experience selling into healthcare, infrastructure, or institutional projects

  • Familiarity with stone, surfaces, or architectural finishes

  • Experience working in both residential and commercial environments

  • Ability to read blueprints and understand project scopes, prepare simple takeoffs and pricing.

Product and Learning Expectations

You do not need to be a stone expert on day one. Product knowledge can be learned on the job. What matters most is construction literacy, curiosity, and the ability to ask the right questions early. Common early mistakes include overselling before understanding fabrication constraints or chasing low-margin work that does not align with the business.

Compensation

  • Base salary in the range of $55,000 to $65,000

  • Strong incentive and commission structure tied to tangible outputs such as drawings brought in and jobs awarded

  • Commission potential includes a percentage of total job value

  • Car allowance or mileage support provided

  • High upside for someone who consistently delivers
